Call for Abstracts
The 36th National Nutrient Databank Conference (NNDC) will be in Houston, Texas on March 25-28, 2012. We invite the submission of original abstracts for poster or oral presentations related to food composition data and databases.
Deadline for submission:
Poster abstracts can be submitted until January 15, 2012
Instructions:
· Please read the following instructions prior to submitting abstracts:
Submit your abstract using our on-line system:
Include:
- Research abstracts: Objective, Materials and Methods, Results, and Significance.
- Descriptive abstracts: Background, Objective, Description, and Conclusion.
- Title of the Abstract
- Author(s) names (First and Last, degrees, and affiliation)
- Two or more key words
- Funding Disclosure (if applicable)
- Contact Information: Contact Author, Organization, Address, Email, Telephone, and Fax.
Data Quality, Variability, and Bioavailability
Analytical Methods and Food Sampling
New Data for Foods and Food Components (Including components not typically available in published tables such as glucosinolates, lignans,flavonoids, polyphenols, GM crops and others)
Databases for Dietary Supplements
Data for Special Population Groups (both by characteristics such as obesity or by demographics)
Advances in Using Food Composition Data for Dietary Assessment
Database Technology (software including smart phone applications and other handheld devices, Internet, information dissemination)
Database Issues Involving Food Labeling and Front of Pack Labels
Industry and Other Initiatives Impacting Databases
Nutrition monitoring to meet goals for government projects such as changing sodium levels in foods and diets in a timely fashion.
Third Party Databases (e.g., used by vendors, supermarkets, or restaurants)
International update impacting North American database issues (e.g., INFOODS, EUROFIR, Codex, harmonization, foods from international sources)
Presentation Preference:
Oral (regular) session
Poster session
You will be notified by December 15, 2011 of the acceptability of your abstract as a poster or oral presentation. Please note that abstracts not following the guidelines listed above will be returned. Accepted abstracts will be provided in the NNDC 2012 Program and Abstracts booklet
